On the issue of love

For my school assignment, I had to draw a picture in the 50's illustration style with the topic of "love".
Like... cheesy, boy-meets-girl love.
The teacher even said the person who draws the cheesiest picture will get a free quiznos sub.
So.
More like girl-meets-girl, but close enough, right?
It looks better in real life, I swear.
I wanted to draw two guys, actually. I wasn't brave enough. For some reason, drawing two girls seems okay-er.
But I digress.
I used this stuff called "Designer's Gouache". It's the first time I've actually tried to paint a picture with it, and it took a little getting used to. It's not bad, actually, feels a little like opaque watercolour.
I left my white tube of gouache at school, so I had to dig out a tube of white watercolour that came with my set a few years ago. It sucked. Now I know the difference between student-grade materials and artist-grade materials. I just had to use a bit of the artist-grade stuff, but I used nearly the entire tube of the student-grade stuff.
I know that you use white more than any other colour, but still. Any time I mixed a tiny bit of colour into it, basically my entire splat of white paint would be gone, and I'd have to squeeze out more.
I hope it doesn't crack. I hear that putting on too many layers will make it crack.
