Some homework. The semester is winding down, hopefully I can get my business card soon.
Will ink grad show booth illustration soon... ish. Spending time finishing this project first, still have to work on the backs.

...I'm pretty tired.

Haven't done much except for some schoolwork the past week or so. I started to re-read sunshine again, and even though I'm not usually a fan of vampire novels, I really like this one. And even though Sunshine almost never stops describing Con's hideous looks, in my mind he will always look like Adrian Brody.

Anyway, I worked on one of my assignments a bit, and I've decided that instead of trying to do every illustration style I can possibly manage, I'll try to channel my focus into two main styles. I won't go into detail about what those styles are, but this is one of them:

++++++++++ )

Anyway, my sister's managed to find and download (how did she manage it? I couldn't when I tried) the really old Monkey Island games, and is having the time of her life.
Although, when she talks to me while she plays it, she sounds more than a little schizophrenic.

[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: ...I totally just asked a woodsmith HOW MUCH WOOD COULD A WOODCHUCK CHUCK IF A WOODCHUCK COULD CHUCK WOOD?
[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: A WOODCHUCK COULD CHUCK NO AMOUNT OF WOOD SINCE A WOODCHUCK CAN'T CHUCK WOOD.
[livejournal.com profile] steam_pilot says: ...
[livejournal.com profile] steam_pilot says: That is so 1993. Seriously.
[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: BUT IF A WOODCHUCK COULD CHUCK AND WOULD CHUCK SOME AMOUNT OF WOOD, WHAT AMOUNT OF WOOD WOULD A WOODCHUCK CHUCK?
[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: shut up i'm lolling
[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: EVEN IF A WOODCHUCK COULD CHUCK WOOD, AND EVEN IF A WOOD CHUCK WOULD CHUCK WOOD, SHOULD A WOODCHUCK CHUCK WOOD?
[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: A WOODCHUCK SHOULD CHUCK IF A WOODCHUCK COULD CHUCK WOOD, AS LONG AS A WOODCHUCK WOULD CHUCK WOOD.
[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint says: man, all the good games were back then

Anyway, I had a hankering for Smallville fics a while ago, so I pretty much read everything I came across and drew some fanart. Not really sure if I should post it because it's not great... but maybe if I ever get around to colouring it.

Farin

I keep putting off my design projects to work on illustration projects. I guess that shows where my priorities lie.

I had to choose a musician to draw for a hypothetical illustration for the Rolling Stones magazine, and since one of my classmates accused me of being unable to draw men, I decided to take him up on the challenge.

I chose to draw Farin Urlaub, of die Ärzte fame. I wanted to try another method of CG to see if it works better for me. I'm not too sure if I like it or not, but I think I'll have to try it a bit more to really decide. So here are the steps I took and stuff. Not a tutorial by any means, just showing some progress.

Man, my life is dull.

++++++++++ )

Also, my copy of the Fables Covers book finally arrived!

It's so beautiful..! It's pretty awesome as well, it includes progress and thumbnails, and it's a great price for such a big book.
I found out today that James Jean is having a show in New York... the day after I leave. How disappointing...

And also, a painting I did for practice:

Does anyone remember the sketchbook I was selling a while ago?

Well, it looks like we still have a few stacks left, so... I just want to get rid of them.
Please support us! And buy a copy!

Anyway, I'm marking the price down to $5.50, but the cover would be random, seeing as how I really don't know which ones are left...

Also, I printed quite a few copies of my Colours comic as well. It's 16 pages, fully coloured. There's actually type in the bubbles as well.

So, if you want a copy of that as well, I'll include that for $10 for both books. Sorry, you can't get the Colours book on its own because it was a self-promotion thing for me and I really shouldn't be selling it.

To sum it up, if you'd like a copy of the sketchbook, it'd be 9.50, shipping included.

If you'd like the Colours book as well, it's $16.40, shipping included. Sorry, guys. Shipping costs a lot. All the profits are going towards my program's fund raising efforts.

Thanks so much!

We had to sit through a few hours of presentations today, and since my desk is right behind a concrete pole, I hid behind it the entire time to draw Kakyoin. Anyone surprised? Anyone? Anyone? anyone... any...

I don't have a lot to say about it, since now that I look at it again, it really is kind of an ugly picture. Anyway.

[livejournal.com profile] heart_mint refuses to read Part 4, so I don't have it in my possession. But I'm planning to read it in the future. I'm starting Part 5 (Golden Wind) instead. I really... like Giorno. He's really cute.

Someone... stole my garbage, what the hell? I swear I put garbage in it yesterday, and now it's just... gone. Oh well.

Spent the better part of last night doodling when I promised to design my sister's resume for her. Which really reminds me, I need to write my resume too. I didn't realize that I'd need it for class.

Gonna head to the VAG to see Krazy tomorrow. I've already seen it, but this is a field trip. For some reason I have to bring my resume. Go figure.

I wonder where my rationale went.
So school's winding down, and what that really means is that I'm up to my ears in schoolwork.
Usually if I sit down and actually work, it actually takes less time than I originally anticipate, but that doesn't really help my stress level.

In any case, I'm not too happy since my painting still hasn't sold yet. But that's life I guess, I better get used to rejections.

So my class is putting together a sketchbook sorta thing, and we were gonna decide on the cover, so I scribbled something that could possibly be used for the cover.

Sober )

Whether or not that's the cover, the sketchbook will for sure have some of my sketches in it, as well as some of my awesome classmate's stuff. And I originally thought it'd cost $10.00, but it turned out it'd cost $7.00, which is good, right?

Right now it's around 50 pages, so give me a holler if you're interested. It's for a good cause.

On a different note, my copy of process Recess 2 finally arrived.

I don't even want to go into detail about all the pains I had to go through to secure a copy of it. Mostly anger, on my part.

WOOHOOO )

Anyway, yeah.
pilot_star: (Default)
I haven't done any homework all weekend. Go me.
I decided to be a complete procrastinator for the last two weeks. I'll just take things as they come.

Anyway, my class has this sort of sketchbook thing going on that we're selling to raise money for our class, and I'm putting 3 sketches in. I was going to put my previous Godspeed sketch in, but when I looked at it again I thought it didn't feel up to par, so I re-sketched him.

Commissioner Godspeed again )

The sketchbook won't only have my stuff in, it'll have lots of awesome stuff from my classmates (they're really awesome). I'm not sure how many pages it'll be but I think they're gonna sell for $10.00 CAD each. Give me a hollah if you're interested. 8D

So, I think I sketch a lot better on paper, as opposed to on computer. It just feels more natural, and I'm also not staring at a screen.
It's better to ink with tablet though. I actually like inking on paper more, but with the tablet I don't have to clean the scans, which I hate doing.

I sketched this pic of young!Jade on paper and inked it in photoshop. To practice inking and toning and all the good stuff.

Howl, is that you? )

So a few days ago, the goggles I ordered arrived! Jubilations!

My parents have gotten completely used to seeing shit from "Army Surplus" show up at my house. I don't think anything can shock them after the gas mask.

Goggles! )

I finished the illustration that's due today, it took less time than I thought it would.

I also finished the background for a magazine layout, which took less time than I thought it would.
And to celebrate, I had to go into pchat to draw Apollo Justice fanart!

HERE COMES JUSTICE (don't worry, no spoilers) )

Finally finished colouring the goddamn lineart.

YEAH, STILL HER )

I've finished putting the copy on too, so I have to start my other illustration that's due on Friday. Hopefully I can manage to simplify it enough that it won't take SO long.

Edit: Oh yes, in case you were wondering, this is the Chinese creation myth.

Edit2: Oh yes, remember The Shipyard painting?
It's for sale ($950, frame and matte included) so if you're interested give me a hollah.

Wow, so much to do for this week.

1. Finish lineart and colouring (and text) for diagrammatic graphics class. For tomorrow.
2. Finish illustration (due on Friday). Actually it'd help if I started this.
3. Finish magazine spread (due on Monday). I should start this too.
4. 28 Page Grid assignment. (I'll mark this as done.)
5. Site for calendar project (God-DAMN-it I don't wanna work on this)

On the bright side, I don't think I have any homework for web design or branding.

Anyway, I pretty much spent all day working on the first part of the lineart for this:

Still Nuwa )

And I wanted to play Apollo Justice all week too. v___v

Edit: In AP, I get all happy whenever I get to talk to Phoenix. It's... kinda pathetic, actually.

I STILL have nothing interesting to say.
I guess I'm just not an interesting person.

Oh, but I sent several pictures to the printer, one of which is the one of Josh and May kissing. There will be new posters in the shop soon!

Therefore, here are some Megiddo Doodles. I don't think I post doodles of them a lot.

The people in my class were all explaining their tasks/duties to the rest of my class today, and when it got to Jorge, he said:
"I'm making the website with Christopher."

WHAT THE FUCK YOU LOSER. WHAT ABOUT ME? I SPENT ALL DAY CODING THAT FUCKING ROLLOVER YESTERDAY AND TEACHING YOU HOW TO CODE BECAUSE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT FRAMES ARE.

Well when it got to my turn, I told everyone that I'm helping Jorge with the site but he forgot about me. Everyone booed at him and told him he's voted off the island.

Anyway.

I seemed to not have a very good memory, because I can't seem to remember how to draw Jay, so I doodled him a few times yesterday. And I think people miss him (right?) so here he is.

I've been working on a website for my class's fund raising project all day.
I hadn't wanted to volunteered. In fact, I had actively NOT volunteered, because I knew it would be a frustrating, hair-yanking experience, just like every other time I have to build a web site.

Anyway, the rollover menu bar just refused to work, completely, and I had no idea why and had to sit around until 3:30 when the web design teacher was available to ask him. It turns out I had one more forward slash than necessary. And the kicker is, if I had uploaded the site, it would've worked!

But I digress. No one cares about how much I hate coding, so I'll move on to a topic everyone is interested in: strip poker.

worksafe but silly )

Edit:
I just had to add this because it was so lovely.

I happened upon his song "This Lamb Sells Condos" and after searching a bit came across that. I like Joanna Newsom too but I honestly kinda like his version more.

The only thing is... He seriously needs to change his group's name.

Lunch

It's lunch, and since I ate like an hour ago, I guess that means I just sit around waiting for the teacher to arrive again (since she still need to go over with me about what needs to be revised for my homework.)

Anyway, I decided to try my hand at CGing again yesterday since I (finally) finished Devil Summoner (Belial is hot) and didn't feel like doing homework or working on projects or anything productive like that.

For the longest time I was using a photoshop brush at whatever opacity I happened to use it at (usually flex between 30 - 60% or so) but I finally turned on opacity jitter for pen pressure.
And wow, what a difference it made.

Edit: I took a photo of the painting that's due at the end of the week to show my mom cause she really wanted to see it.
It's... I dunno, it seems pretty incomplete to me but I don't know what to do with it.
I guess I'll post it around to ask for some advice.

In class right now, and waiting for the teacher to get around to looking at my assignment. In the mean time I don't want to do anything productive, really, so I'm sitting around , surfing, and typing up an entry.

Honestly, the thing I like most about macs are the dashboard. They're just so awesome. Too bad my dictionary widget broke, or it'll be even moar awesome. And that's M-O-A-R.

A CG I finished a few days ago, it's also up on my site.

Honeysyn Comish )

I find that I'm also pretty hesitant to go to print shops in general, unless the specialize in making... say... manga prints for cons or something. It feels like I'm getting in their way. They have all these companies making thousands of copies of brochures and posters, and here I am, demanding that they make 25 copies of some crappy animu pic for me. My sis tells me I need to be more thick-skinned, but if I were I wouldn't really be thinking about this.

...Uh, yeah. Apparantly I fail at html.
